The AI in Education (AIED) programme manager at Universiteit Leiden is seeking a tech-savvy Student Assistant with a background in Machine Learning or a related field.

You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical AI concepts and practical educational application.

As part of our support staff, you will work under the direction of the programme manager to provide the hands-on technical expertise needed to develop clear and effective resources for students and staff.

What you will do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop clear and (non)technical explanations of complex AI concepts for inclusion in university guidelines and educational resources.
  • Create concrete examples of AI prompts and their outputs to be used in case studies and assignment examples for teachers.
  • Assist in creating documentation that requires technical insight, such as the plagiarism guidelines related to GAI logs and prompt histories.

The Leiden Learning & Innovation Centre (LLInC) is the Leiden University's expertise centre that provides continuous support and innovation of academic education to all of Leiden University's faculties. Our broad range of tasks is reflected in our multidisciplinary team of over 40 enthusiastic professionals. We work closely with university lecturers on tools and techniques that make learning attractive, innovative, efficient, accessible, and inclusive. We research and advise on educational (IT-based) developments (including legal aspects), we provide UTQ, CPD, and STQ training, and help the university meet its educational quality assurance goals. What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field at Leiden university.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and generative AI.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience (fluency in Dutch and English is required).
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and the practical application of AI tools.
  • Detail-oriented and able to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Interest in or knowledge of Educational Sciences is a plus.
