Are you excited about managing complex research and valorisation projects while also building new relationships with researchers and support staff? If so, this unique role is for you.

What you will do

As Research Project Manager you are part of the Research Project Management Pool, a team of dedicated project managers at Luris. In the role you will plan, organise and manage research projects, supporting researchers in different phases of the project lifecycle.  Additionally, you will support the team with its outreach and project acquisition activities.

Along with the other project managers in the pool, you will:

  • Coordinate the execution of research and valorisation projects in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator/ Project Lead.
  • Monitor and report progress and budget, ensuring compliance with the funding agency requirements, agreed contracts and policies.
  • Assist with all aspects of the projects’ contractual documentation, including change requests, amendments, and the drafting of other agreements as required.
  • Maintain relationships with consortium partners, controllers, funders and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the development of acquisition strategies for new projects and promote the new project management pool across the university.

In addition to your role in the pool, you will be a part of the active and lively Leiden Research Support Network, the wider community of research project managers and of course the Luris team. All in all, an interesting and exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for research support.

Where you will work

Luris creates and facilitates the network between Leiden scientists and public and private partners, with a focus on generating societal impact through research, knowledge and innovation. We support scientists at Leiden University and the LUMC in their ambition to further develop  their research. To achieve this goal, we work closely with academics, companies and many other stakeholders in the Leiden ecosystem.

As a team our aim is to help researchers plan, organise and manage complex or interdisciplinary research projects. You will start in a position as Project Manager for a National Growth Fund project and a Dutch Research Agenda (NWA) project.

What you bring

The Luris Research Project Management Pool is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic colleague to join our growing team. You are enterprising, team- and service-oriented and able to establish and maintain professional relationships. You feel comfortable in the role of a coordinator and sparring partner for (a diverse group of) researchers. You also enjoy engaging in dialogue and collaborating with public sector organisations, such as government ministries, and other societal stakeholders. With your analytical mindset, you are able to quickly assess what is going on. You take ownership of your work, are driven by results, and feel confident working independently while shaping your own responsibilities. Your communication style is clear and approachable, and you are not deterred by deadlines.

In addition, you have:

  • Master, or comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of externally funded research projects and the national/ international funding landscape, especially NWO, or other Dutch funding opportunities.
  • Work experience in a research support role within an academic/ research environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent command of both the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing.

If you immediately recognise yourself in this profile, or if do you not quite meet all the requirements, but you believe that this is the right job for you, we look forward to your application!
