The Faculty of Science at Leiden University, through the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), invites applications for a Lecturer position (0.8–1.0 FTE) in Computer Science and Business Studies.
We seek a candidate for a position of Lecturer to teach various courses, including business research methodology, and supervise internship projects in the faculty-wide Business Studies specialization at the Faculty of Science. The ideal candidate is an experienced and inspiring educator, proactive, well-organized, a good planner, and a team-player.
We are particularly interested in candidates with background and expertise combining computer science topics with business, management, and organizational aspects, and who feel comfortable operating on their intersection.
In addition to teaching courses, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Business Studies internship program. During the internship, students gain valuable hands-on experience applying scientific expertise to real-world business challenges. This experience helps them develop effective business strategies and may be conducted at companies or organizations both in the Netherlands and abroad. You will supervise students while they carry out their internship projects and assess their results.
What you will do
- Teach three courses and organize all administration around them.
- Supervise students and manage internships.
- Contribute to the innovation of education.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of the faculty-wide Business Studies specialization.
- Contribute to organizational activities of the Institute.
- Remain up to date with research in the field of computer science and business studies.

The Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) is the Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University. We offer courses at the Bachelor and Master of Science levels in the core areas of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science, and in the interdisciplinary areas of Business, Creative Intelligence, and Bioinformatics. We are also collaborating with the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs and the Law Faculty in the new multidisciplinary Bachelor Cybersecurity and Cybercrime.

What you bring
- Master or PhD degree in a field related to computer science and/or business, such as technology and innovation management, software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence.
- A proven track record as an educator in the computer science and/or business studies field.
- Proficiency in English.
- Team spirit/collaborative attitude strongly preferred.

The starting date is negotiable, but no later than summer 2026. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
